Autumn looms in and calls for fall staples to be used and misused. One of those key trends, be it makes a hiss on runway or not, always lures the fashion lovers. Here I am talking about my personal favorite, Velvet. Autumn-Winter 2016
Autumn-Winter 2016 could see a lot of velvet and in every form. Pants, shirts, blouses, bodycon, skirts, shorts to thigh high boots, it was a fabric used almost everywhere.We can never get enough of velvet. This time from casual to party wears, velvet caught eyes of many. The best part is it wasn’t even expensive as fur and easy to be managed.
The websites are full of it and the stores were loathed with the velvet collection. I also managed to get few key pieces and wore them not only in darkhours but also in daytime. Still can’t get over it. Choosing the right colors, this can be your next satin to officewear closet.
Styling this fabric is a little tricky but not as hard as you may think. Some find this royal fabric a little too much to wear during days and would rather keep it in their party closet. But not anymore, you can always dress it down by choosing the right add-ons to it. Layer it, if you can’t carry it alone. Otherwise, don’t be afraid to go for lighter fabrics when choosing the top or bottom as velvet.
And who can resist the allure of velvet? It’s a fabric of nobility and royalty (Princess Diana was a fan) and on the other end of the spectrum, it boasts a dangerous streak, with connections to glam rock and nighttime seduction. And now, the smooth, luxurious material has a wonderfully arty-eccentric offbeat side—only one element of what makes up the “Gucci girl” that creative director Alessandro Michele dreamed up (see: the fall/winter 2016 collection) Trending colors in velvet this season are royal blue, shades of red, violets, green and marsala.
